Why did this role appear for me?

Every role is scored against your profile before it is shown to you. The score is the share of the skills the posting asks for that you have listed, adjusted for the experience band it names — nothing else. No model decides it, so the same profile and the same posting always give the same number.

Falling short of the band costs more than being past it. A posting that wants four years and gets two is a real gap; eight years usually is not, and scoring the two the same is how experienced people get told they do not fit work they can plainly do.

When a role looks wrong for you, the fix is nearly always the profile rather than the search. Matching only knows the skills you have written down.

What does the match score actually measure?

The proportion of the posting's required skills that appear on your profile, less a penalty for coming in under the experience band. A posting that names no skills at all scores 50 and says so — that is the employer leaving it out, not a verdict on you.

Skills are matched by spelling and not by meaning. “ReactJS” on your profile does not match “React” on a posting. That is deliberate: being told you match something you do not is a thing you only find out in the interview room.

So a score that looks too low is worth a second read. The skills it thinks you are missing are listed underneath it, and half of them are usually spelling.

It says I am missing a skill I have. What do I do?

Add it to your profile, spelled the way postings spell it. Matching reads that list and nothing else — not your resume text and not your work history.

Where a gap is real, Learn orders its suggestions by the skills that came up most often in the roles you applied to and never heard back from. That ordering is the useful part: it is the gap costing you interviews rather than a generic syllabus.

What is the Why screen telling me?

One diagnosis at a time, worked out from your own funnel: how complete your profile is, whether you have a resume, how many applications turned into callbacks and where they stopped. It names the single thing most worth fixing next and shows the numbers behind it, so you can check the reasoning rather than take it on trust.

It is arithmetic, not a model. The same figures always give the same verdict, and it goes on working when the assistant is down.

“Too early to say” is a real answer there. In your first week, with nothing applied to yet, it says so instead of inventing a problem for you to worry about.

Who am I being compared to on Why?

People at a similar experience level, and only once there are at least thirty of them. Below that nothing is shown at all, because a median of four people describes those four and not the job market.

The comparison is on two things: the share of your applications that turned into a callback, and how long your first interview took to arrive. Your own side of it is read live every time you open the screen.

The peer figure is a shared aggregate, refreshed every few minutes. No individual's applications are visible to you, and yours are never visible to them.

Who can see a salary report I file?

Nobody, as a report. What you file goes into a distribution — a median and quartiles across everyone who reported that role — and the screen never shows one person's figure, name or employer beside it.

A distribution only appears once at least five reports exist, and the count is always printed next to the number so you can judge how much it is worth. Below five, nothing is shown rather than something shaky.

Only offers from the last three years are counted. An older package describes a job market that no longer exists.

How do I take a salary report back?

Salary, then your own reports at the bottom of the screen. Delete it there and the row is gone rather than hidden, and the median it was feeding is recomputed immediately — so the figure stops moving the moment you withdraw it.

You do not have to say why, and it changes nothing else on your account.

Why is there no average salary?

Because one director's package drags an average somewhere no candidate will ever be offered, and you would walk into the negotiation holding a number that helps the other side. You get the median and the quartiles instead: the middle, and the spread around it.

Reports backed by an uploaded offer letter are counted separately as well as together, so you can see for yourself whether the unverified ones are inflating the figure.

Will people see my name if I say I am going to a walk-in?

Not unless you switch that on yourself. Marking that you are going shows a count and the towns people are travelling from — never you. It is off by default and it stays off until you change it.

If you do make yourself visible, what others see is only what is already on your public profile: name, handle, headline and city. Never the email or phone you signed up with.

You can only see other people's names if you are visible yourself. Seeing the room without being in it is how a list like this turns into something people get watched on.

What does a guardian link show my family?

Effort, as counts over the last four weeks: applications sent, days you were active, your streak. Interviews reached, offers received and lessons finished are each a separate switch you set when you create the link.

It never shows rejections. Not hidden and not filtered out — the queries behind that page never ask for them, so there is nothing there to leak. It also shows no company names, no role titles, no resume, no messages and no salary reports.

The link itself is the credential, so treat it like one. Anyone holding it can open that page.

How do I stop a guardian link?

Settings, find the link, revoke it. It stops working immediately for whoever holds it. Before you decide you can see when it was last opened and how many times.

You can give a link an expiry date when you create it, and you can hold five at once — one per person is safer than one link that gets forwarded around.

Does practice score my answers?

No. Nothing here marks you, ranks you or compares your answer to anybody else's. You rate your own confidence after each attempt, and that rating is only ever shown back to you.

It is not modesty about what a model could do. A score you disagree with is a score you argue with instead of practising, and your own honest verdict is the one signal you will not dismiss.

Where do the practice questions come from?

From interview experiences people on PrakWay wrote up afterwards. They are the questions that company actually asked, in the round they asked them, rather than invented ones.

The most-reported come first: a question five people were asked is standard, one that came up once was somebody's unlucky day.

How do I get a copy of everything you hold about me?

Your data, then ask for your file. It builds one JSON file with every row linked to your account: profile, applications, resumes, salary reports, practice answers, notes, goals, messages you sent, and the history behind your progress screens.

It is served to you and to nobody else — there is no link to it that anyone could forward. It is deleted from our servers fourteen days after it is built, so save your own copy. A file that lives forever is a file waiting to be taken.

How do I delete my account?

Your data, then close your account. Nothing is deleted for seven days and you can cancel during that week from the same screen — an instant deletion is one that cannot be undone after a bad afternoon.

After that it is real. A few things survive in a form that is no longer about you: a salary report is kept without its owner so it goes on keeping a median honest, and invoices are kept because tax law requires them.

What happens when I cancel my plan?

You keep everything you have already paid for until the end of the period you paid for. Cancelling on the 3rd does not cut you off on the 3rd, and the date your access ends is shown on the billing screen as soon as you cancel.

Nothing is charged after that. Cancelling deletes nothing — your applications, resumes, notes and history are all still there on the free plan.

Can I get a refund?

The refunds and cancellation policy says when we refund and how long it takes, including a double charge and a charge taken after you cancelled.

If a charge looks wrong, write to us with the invoice number before you raise it with your bank. A chargeback locks the account while it is investigated, which is slower for you than us simply refunding it.
